Look at me Mom!

Sara gave me a big surprise yesterday--she can get up on her hands and knees and rock back and forth. I was shocked!!!! I had no idea she was even close to doing that! Needless to say, I am very proud of her, she is just growing up so fast! I think she must be picking it up at daycare, b/c most, if not all, of the other babies in her class can crawl and some can walk. So I think it won't be too much long until she is mobile. I guess we need to get a start on childproofing the house!!

And it seems like Spring has finally sprung! Thank goodness! I am hoping the warm weather will give me some motivation to get out and get back to walking and maybe even running. I have only got a month and a half before we go to the beach, and I still have a few more pounds to lose and some toning up to do. I think I am going to have to start back up on the Couch 2 5k program. Jeremy & I, along with Justin & Alison, did it in the late summer of 2005, and it worked!! In 12 weeks, we ran our first 5k. So I am hoping I can get back on that, we'll see though, I think it can just stay motivated I can do it again!

We had a cold, but beautiful Easter Sunday. Sara woke us up about 7:30, so we got up to go see what the Easter Bunny brought her. She was so excited about her Easter basket and loved all the toys she got.

Later, we went to church with Jeremy's family and then to his Nanny's for Easter dinner. And that evening, my parents came over and I cooked an Easter supper for them. Sara had a great time, but was worn out by the end of the day!!

Half a Year

Sara is 6 months old! A whole half a year has passed by already, only 6 more months until her first birthday!!

Isn't she a doll!

I think she is starting to like having her picture taken, which she should, since she has been born we have taken over 1200 pictures. If you notice in one of the pictures above, she is waving "bye, bye" and she has also learned to give kisses, sometimes! It so amazing to watch her learn and pick up on stuff, she already seems so smart! Also you may have noticed that Sara has teeth, she got her front two bottom teeth about two weeks ago.

When Sara was around 3 months old, Jeremy and I decided that on her 6 month birthday we would move her into her own room(she has been sleeping in her pack'n play in our room). Well it hasn't happened yet b/c we still haven't got a monitor. I think we are going to try to do it this weekend, I am really dreading it, I don't think I will be able to sleep! But I know it's inevitable, and the sooner we do it the easier it will be on all of us.

My high school best friend, Devin, had her baby yesterday, it was a boy and they named him A.J. He was a day over due, so it's no surprise he weighed in at 8 lbs 10 oz. I am hoping to go see them tonight. So congratualtions to them!!! I know they are so happy about their little boy!

My neighbor, Tiffany, had her baby yesterday. Audrey Ann weighed in at 7 lbs 9 oz and was 19 inches long at 3 weeks early! Can you imagine if she would have went full term!?! I stopped by the hospital on my way home from work to visit. Audrey is so cute and tiny, even though she is only 4 oz smaller than Sara was, she looked so much smaller to me. Which brings me to the point of this post, I thought now was as good of a time as any to recap my birth story, before any more months pass by and I start forgetting stuff, so here it goes:

October 4
I had my 39 week appointment with Dr. Callison at 8:30 am. We had a feeling she might induce me that day, b/c the previous week I was already dilated to 3-4 cm and 80% effaced, so we brought our hospital bags just in case. So we are at the appointment and she checks me. I am 5 cm and 100% effaced. I am thinking "How is this baby still in me and how have I not felt any pains???" Dr. Callison mentions something about inducing the next day, and when she said that I got a disappointed look on my face, according to Jeremy, and then she said, "or we can send you on over today?" So of course I said yes! She called the hospital to let them know I was coming over, b/c she knew they were extremely crowded that day, since she was late for my appointment b/c she was delivering a baby. They had one bed open, so we rushed over there.

We get to Labor & Delivery and check in, not really sure on the time, but I am going to say about 9:30-10:00 am. On our way to the hospital we called all of our family to let them know that we were heading to the hospital. We had to wait about an hour in the waiting room for a L&D room to become available. The first to show up to the hospital were Justin and Alison, so they got to wait with us for a little while. While we were sitting there we watched out the window, and I saw my parents, brothers, and uncle come in on the bottom floor, but before they made it up to the L&D floor, they had already called me back to my room, at about 11:00-11:30ish.

My L&D room was amazing! It was huge! My L&D nurse was Melissa. She was great, so nice. When we first got in there, I had to change in to my gown and get hooked up to an IV. Then she put 2 monitors around my belly, one to monitor the contractions and the other to monitor the baby's heartbeat. Then she checked me again, and I had already progressed to 6 cm. So she took my blood and called in for the epidural.

While we waited for my bloodwork to come back so I could get the epi, I got see all the family that had made it to the hospital. my mom and dad, my brothers, my uncle, Jeremy's mom and dad, Justin, Alison, Matthew, Megan, Rob, my aunt Patsy, uncle Randy, Heather, Hillary, Jeremy's aunt Cheryl, aunt Anita, Nanny, Pappaw, Mammaw, Kim, Jimmy Carter, Sandy, and Morgan. And I believe Jeremy's great aunt Doris was there and his cousin Johnny. Jeremy's uncle Jimmy Couch got there later, I didn't get to see him before I delivered.

It was finally epidural time. I got my epidurial, which was fantastic! Even though I haven't felt any contractions to this point, it was really nice to know that I wasn't going to have to at all! After my epi was finished, Dr. Callison came in and broke my water. Not sure about the time on this, I would say around 1:00, b/c we asked her when she thought we would have a baby and she said by 3:00pm. So during the waiting time we visited with all the family. It was all very relaxed and we were all having a good time.

Around 3:30, the nurse checked me and I was fully dilated. She had me do a couple of pushes and she said I was ready. So she paged Dr. Callison. Not sure about the time here, but I think I pushed for about 30-45 mins. Pushing was the hardest thing I have ever done. During the pushes they could see her head, and the nurse said she had a ton of hair. Finally at 4:25 pm, Sara Belle was born. If was the biggest relief I have ever felt. And she did, indeed, have a ton of hair. They placed her on my belly to clean her off, and she was crying. Then they took her to her warmer and let her lay for a bit and breathe, b/c she had a lot of fluid in her when she came out. Jeremy was a great coach and was right by me the whole time. And after she was born, he turned in to Mr. Photographer and took some great pictures! He also took a picture of her with my phone and sent it out to the waiting room to my mom, so that is how they all found out she had been born.

It's been too long

I know, I know, I must get better at updating this blog. Sometimes I am just at a loss as what to write about, so I'll just recap our weekend for starters.

Not much going on, after work I picked Sara up from daycare and we went to the grocery store. Jeremy came home and we went and picked up a pizza at Little Ceasar's, came home, ate, gave Sara a bath, and put her to bed. I made a cake and Jeremy cleaned his golf clubs. And we went to get and bed and watch an episode of House, which btw is my new favorite show! And then to sleep.

Sara got up at 7:00 am(Jeremy had already gone to work, he got up at 5:00 am), and therefore I was up at 7:00am. Amanda, an old co-worker of mine from Birmingham, and her mom came to visit. They left around 2:00 pm and I had to get busy making coconut shrimp for a Going Away Party for our neighbors, Scott & Laura, at 5:30 pm. My mom came and got Sara around 2:30 to spend the night(and Macy too!). We went to the party, it was great! We kept it a rather early night, and went home a little before 11:00 pm, b/c we were both exhausted.

I slept in! Got up about 9:00 am(Jeremy had gotten up earlier and headed out to play golf), had cake for breakfast, and watched The Holiday. It was a such a good movie. Alison let me borrow it, and I think I might have to go purchase it now! Later that afternoon, I went to the Spring Market with Alison, Kathi, Jessica, and Kathi's friend Amy. There were lots of booths, but I didn't find any really good deals, so I didn't buy very much. By the time I got home from the market, Jeremy and Sara were home, and we just hung out at the house the rest of the night.

Hopefully my next blog will be more interesting! I will leave you will a few pictures of Sara at 5 months old. She will be 6 months old on Wednesday, so I will have some new ones then.
